Central Jakarta Government: Jati Baru Festival a Form of Resident Creativity to Foster Togetherness
The Central Jakarta City Government considers the Jati Baru Festival Vol. 5 to be a form of creativity, concern, and public participation in building an active, productive, and cohesive environment.
Deputy Mayor of Central Jakarta Administration Eric PZ Lumbun said the event organised by Karang Taruna RW 04, Kampung Bali Urban Village, Tanah Abang District, demonstrates the active role of the community in developing their neighbourhood.
“This is a tangible form of creativity, concern, and public participation in building an active, productive, and cohesive environment,” Eric said in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday.
Eric said the younger generation should not only be beneficiaries of development but also act as agents and drivers of development within the community.
He therefore urged young people and Karang Taruna to continue channelling their energy and creativity through activities that benefit the community.
“Build collaboration, create innovation, and present activities that can strengthen community togetherness,” he said.
Eric also invited residents to maintain order, public and social facilities, and to keep Jakarta safe and comfortable.
The Jati Baru Festival (Jabfes) Vol. 5 runs throughout August 2026 with a series of activities covering social affairs, sports, the creative economy, and arts and culture.
Jati Baru Festival Vol. 5 Organising Committee Chairman Syauqi Rabbani said the programme is divided into three categories: Jabfes Care, Jabfes Sport, and Jabfes Event.
“Jabfes Care focuses on social activities and community concern, including free health checks, blood donation, productive elderly activities, healthy toddler programmes, and distribution of basic food packages for elderly residents,” Syauqi said.
Jabfes Sport features sporting activities such as badminton, futsal, and mini soccer, while Jabfes Event is filled with an MSME bazaar and arts and cultural performances.
The festival also launched the Jati Baru Waste Bank Information System (Sibaru).
Syauqi said Sibaru is a resident-led innovation to raise awareness of sorting waste at the source before it is collected and managed through the system.
“The programme is also part of efforts to build community concern for cleanliness and environmental sustainability through a participatory resident-based approach,” he said.
