Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Central Jakarta City Council has gathered aspirations from residents across six sub-distaminations in the Senen District, Central Jakarta, who are requesting the installation of CCTV in residential areas and traffic signs to prevent accidents.

Prasetio Kurniawan, Assistant for Government in Central Jakarta, stated that the City Council’s aspiration-gathering activity serves as a platform to build communication, coordination, and collaboration between the government and community institutions to identify the needs of citizens.

“The City Council is tasked with collecting and conveying the aspirations of residents and providing input to the Mayor, while also mobilising and encouraging community participation in development and public services,” said Prasetio during the event held at the Senen District Office Hall, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday.

During the session, representatives from local neighbourhood units (RT, RW), community institutions (LMK), and the community disaster mitigation forum (FKDM) presented several requests, including the provision of CCTV at several crime-prone points in RW 10, Bungur Sub-district.

Residents also proposed the installation of traffic signs under the Senen Flyover leading towards Jalan Letjen Suprapto to anticipate accidents, as well as the implementation of a one-way system on Jalan Salemba Tengah.

Prasetio noted that the working relationship between the City Council, the Mayor, and community institutions in Central Jakarta is based on coordination, consultation, and partnership.

In addition to the City Council’s aspiration-gathering activities, residents can communicate their needs through neighbourhood forums (Rembuk RW), development planning meetings (Musrenbang), regional parliamentary recess periods, and the Central Jakarta Mayor’s community outreach programmes.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Central Jakarta City Council, Nasirman Chaniago, stated that 11 resident aspirations from six sub-districts in the Senen District submitted during a similar activity last year have been followed up.

“Alhamdulillah, the City Council immediately coordinated with several regional apparatus organisations within the Central Jakarta Municipal Government to follow up on several aspirations from Senen residents,” said Nasirman.

Doni, the head of RW 10 Bungur, stated that residents are re-proposing the installation of CCTV and traffic signs in several locations deemed in need of surveillance and traffic regulation.

“We are once again requesting the installation of CCTV and traffic signs under the Senen Flyover, which has not yet been realised. This is particularly urgent for signage, as motor vehicle accidents involving fatalities frequently occur there,” said Doni.
