Central Jakarta Administration Promotes School Bullying Prevention
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Central Jakarta Administration held an outreach session on preventing bullying through the Parenting Children and Adolescents in the Digital Era (PAAREDI) “Goes to School” programme at SMP Negeri 1 Cikini on Wednesday.
Central Jakarta Mayor Arifin said the session aimed to raise awareness of the importance of a safe and comfortable educational environment for pupils, teachers, education staff and parents.
“Promoting the message to stop bullying in schools is crucial and urgent, and we must continue to raise awareness,” Arifin said in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He said a school environment free from intimidation could support teaching and learning while helping pupils develop their potential to the fullest.
Arifin said character education needed to go hand in hand with academic education, particularly amid the development of digital technology. Academic ability, he said, needed to be balanced with mutual respect, empathy and concern for others.
“I have high hopes that after taking part in this activity and receiving information about stopping bullying, you will put these values into practice. Respecting, caring for and protecting one another should not be limited to the school environment,” he said.
The PAAREDI Goes to School and Suluh Sosial Sapa Sekolah activities were organised by the Central Jakarta Social Affairs Sub-department, together with the Family Welfare Movement (TP PKK) and the Central Jakarta branch of the Scout Movement.
Arifin added that PAAREDI’s bullying-prevention outreach would continue at other schools across Central Jakarta to broaden education on character development and preventing violence in educational settings.
He called on schools, families and communities to play an active role in creating child-friendly environments that support the growth and development of young people.
“Let us join hands, stand together and strengthen our commitment to creating child-friendly educational environments for the sake of our children’s future,” he said.
