The Central Information Commission (KIP) has emphasised that the resignation of Arya Sandhiyudha from his position as Vice Chairman and Commissioner of KIP is unrelated to the ongoing selection process for commissioners for the next period.

KIP Chairman Donny Yoesgiantoro stated that the resignation letter received on 8 May 2026 merely contained a statement of resignation without specifying a particular reason. “We will be transparent regarding the reasons for the resignation of the individual concerned. The reason provided was simply ‘resigning’. Therefore, no specific reason was included,” Donny said during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Donny noted that KIP bases all decision-making processes on the administrative documents received by the institution. After receiving the letter, KIP conducted internal communication and coordination before deciding to accept Arya’s resignation through a plenary meeting. “On 8 May, the letter was submitted to us as the Chairman of the Information Commission; on 13 May, the individual was accepted as a director at PTPN IV,” he added.

KIP Commissioner Handoko noted that Law Number 14 of 2008 concerning Public Information Disclosure stipulates that members of the Information Commission may not hold concurrent positions in other public bodies. “Under the provisions of Law Number 14 of 2008, commissioners are prohibited from holding dual roles in other public bodies. Therefore, it was factually determined that Mr Arya no longer met the requirements to serve as a commissioner,” said Handoko.

He requested that the public do not link Arya’s resignation to the KIP commissioner selection process, which is currently under the authority of the Government and the House of Representatives (DPR). As a follow-up, the KIP plenary meeting has appointed Regulation Commissioner Gede Narayana as the Vice Chairman of KIP to ensure the continuity of programmes and public information disclosure services. KIP will subsequently submit the results of the plenary meeting and the resignation letter to the President for official ratification in accordance with applicable regulations.
