Central Halmahera Mining Student Forum Demands Justice for Illegal Mining Mafia, Including PT Tekindo Energi President Director

The Central Halmahera Mining Circle Student Forum in Jakarta is urging law enforcement to prosecute individuals involved in illegal mining mafia operations, including the president director of PT Tekindo Energi in Central Halmahera, North Maluku.

The demand was made by the Central Halmahera mining circle student forum, which strongly condemned all forms of mining activity and operations by PT Tekindo Energi in Central Halmahera.

The coordinator of the Central Halmahera mining circle student forum in Jakarta, Rizal Damola, stated that the demand was not without reason, given that PT Tekindo Energi continues to operate in Central Halmahera.

In fact, PT Tekindo Energi’s permit was officially revoked by the central government through the Ministry of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), led by Bahlil Lahadalia.

“The permit revocation was a follow-up to the President’s directive through BKPM, and a number of Mining Business Permits (IUP) were also revoked to cease operations,” said Rizal in a press release to Klikfakta.id on Monday (24/8/2026).

Furthermore, the revocation of several IUPs was also due to failure to follow up with business permits, or failure to submit Work Plans and Budgets (RKAB) to the central government.

A total of 545 IUPs across Indonesia failed to submit RKAB, including 15 in North Maluku that were revoked, including PT Tekindo Energi which operates in the Central Halmahera region, based on a decree dated 18 February 2022.

For this reason, the Central Halmahera mining circle student forum is urging the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) and law enforcement to immediately evaluate and examine the legality of PT Tekindo Energi.

“Because to this day PT Tekindo Energi is still operating in Central Halmahera even though its permit has been revoked,” he said.

He also urged the Ministry of ESDM and law enforcement to immediately halt all activities of PT Tekindo Energi in Central Halmahera.

“The Ministry of ESDM and law enforcement must not be complacent in eradicating illegal mining and the individuals involved in the mining mafia, including the President Director of PT Tekindo, who must be punished and prosecuted,” he demanded.
