Jakarta – Deputy Speaker of the X Commission of the House of Representatives, Lalu Hadrian Irfani, has urged the central government to intervene in paying the salaries of part-time PPPK teachers. He said he had received reports from the field that such teachers had not yet received their wages. He emphasised that delays and uncertainty in payment must not be allowed to persist. ‘We urge the central government to assist local authorities in paying the salaries or allowances of part-time PPPK teachers. They deserve a decent wage that is paid on time,’ Lalu said in a statement on Thursday (5 March 2026). The Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikdasmen) and the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) are urged to formulate a special policy to resolve the issue of salaries for part-time PPPK teachers. One option is to propose an Additional Budget Allocation (ABT) scheme, so salaries for part-time PPPK teachers can be allocated and disbursed promptly. ‘We ask the Minister of Education and Culture to coordinate with the Minister of Finance to propose funding under the ABT scheme. This is important to ensure budget certainty and not to burden local fiscal authorities, which are currently also constrained,’ Lalu said. He added that teacher welfare is a foundational pillar in improving national education quality. ‘Our side in Commission X will continue to fight for the aspirations of part-time PPPK teachers. We must not allow those at the frontline of education to lack welfare certainty,’ Lalu added. The situation has been reported by part-time PPPK teachers on the Indonesia–Malaysia border, in Nunukan, North Kalimantan. They urged PGRI to view this as an urgent matter, especially given central government policy to soon upgrade 32,000 core staff of the Nutrition Service Provision Unit (SPPG) to Civil Servant status with PPPK.
