Central Government to Take Over PPPK Teachers, Central Java Says Move Will Ease Regional Fiscal Burden

Central Java Deputy Governor Taj Yasin has welcomed the plan to transfer teachers with government work agreements (PPPK), both part-time and full-time, from regional civil servants to central government employees. He said the move would have a positive impact on regional finances.

According to Yasin, the transfer of PPPK teachers to central government employees has been proposed by a number of regional heads, including governors. “We also look at our financial portion, our regional budget. If it is taken over, we can work together,” he said in an interview at the Central Java Provincial Government Office in Semarang on Wednesday (19/8/2026).

Based on data from the Central Java Provincial Civil Service Agency (BKD), there are currently 17,638 full-time PPPK teachers and 2,954 part-time PPPK teachers under the authority of the Central Java Provincial Government. “Fiscally it is good, very good, for us to develop Central Java,” Yasin said when asked about the fiscal impact if full-time and part-time PPPK teachers are transferred to central government employees.

Yasin said his administration is still waiting for technical guidance on the transfer of full-time and part-time PPPK teachers to central government employees. Acting Head of the Central Java Provincial BKD, Dhoni Widianto, also welcomed the central government’s plan to absorb full-time and part-time PPPK teachers as central employees.

“Regarding the effect, when they later become central civil servants, it will certainly reduce our fiscal burden, particularly in personnel spending,” Dhoni said.
