The Central Bengkulu Regency Government has recorded that 14 Koperasi Desa Kelurahan Merah Putih (KDKMP) outlets in the region are ready to operate in August 2026 and are awaiting instructions from the central government.

“We are still waiting for instructions from the centre. However, the information we have received indicates that 14 KDKMP outlets will be inaugurated this August,” said Gunawan, Head of the Trade, Industry, Cooperatives and SMEs Office of Central Bengkulu Regency, in Bengkulu on Monday.

He noted that of the total 60 outlets spread across 11 sub-districts in Central Bengkulu Regency, preparations have not stopped at the completion of buildings, and cooperative equipment has already been distributed.

At present, all KDKMP buildings remain under the responsibility of the construction contractor and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), as once construction is complete, the facilities will be handed over to the respective village governments for management.

Gunawan further explained that the construction of KDKMP outlets follows established regulations, with each building measuring approximately 20 by 30 square metres.

“The construction of KDKMP outlets is in accordance with regulations. The buildings measure 20 by 30 square metres. Once handed over, we hope the management will be responsible for the buildings and all existing facilities,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance, through the Directorate General of Treasury, has recorded transactions at KDKMP outlets in two areas of Bengkulu Province from January to the end of June 2026 totalling Rp306.71 million.

“Indeed, the stages of the Merah Putih Cooperatives in Bengkulu Province are currently still in the process of constructing outlets at several completed locations. However, some cooperatives are already operating and there are transactions recorded on the Ministry of Cooperatives dashboard amounting to approximately Rp306.71 million,” explained Mohamad Irfan Surya Wardhana, Head of the Bengkulu Regional Office of the Directorate General of Treasury.

The transaction value of the Koperasi Desa Kelurahan Merah Putih occurred from January to the end of June 2026, derived from the sale of urea, NPK and Phonska fertiliser commodities.

Based on data from the Koperasi Desa Kelurahan Merah Putih management information system, the transactions totalling Rp306.71 million originated from Padang Jaya Sub-district in North Bengkulu Regency and Lubuk Pinang Sub-district in Mukomuko Regency.

Although a number of Merah Putih Cooperatives in Bengkulu Province are not yet fully operational, the KDKMP have already contributed transactions, providing evidence that these cooperatives are capable of becoming drivers of the community’s economic activity.

Irfan explained that there are currently 1,508 KDKMP established in Bengkulu Province, with 1,505 cooperatives having active account numbers and 66.4 per cent of these cooperatives having obtained business identification numbers.
