Central Banking Forum Set to Discuss Indonesia's Strategies for Facing Global Uncertainty
Exchange rate volatility has become a crucial factor influencing the economic stability of various countries, including Indonesia. Uncertainty in the direction of global monetary policy, rising geopolitical tensions, and the dynamics of international trade and investment flows have driven increasingly fluctuating global currency movements.
Efforts to maintain exchange rate stability are an important element in strengthening national economic resilience as well as maintaining market confidence and positive perceptions. In this regard, Bank Indonesia, as Indonesia’s monetary authority, responds to these global challenges by continuously optimising various monetary policy instruments to bolster external resilience against potential escalation of the Middle East conflict, including taking necessary adjustment measures to remain consistent in safeguarding national economic stability.
To discuss this further, CNBC Indonesia, together with Bank Indonesia, presents the Central Banking Forum 2026 with the theme “Indonesia’s Economic Resilience in Facing Global Exchange Rate Volatility”. The event will take place on Monday, 13 April 2026, at The Grand Ballroom, Mandarin Oriental Jakarta.
The Central Banking Forum 2026 will feature Senior Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia Destry Damayanti, who will deliver the keynote speech and outline the latest global situation, where geopolitical uncertainties are increasing due to attacks by the United States and Israel against Iran.
In addition, Destry Damayanti will explain the current development of the rupiah exchange rate, including comparisons of rupiah movements during the 1998 crisis and the 2020 Covid pandemic, as well as the extent of global pressures received. Finally, she will present the forward-looking economic outlook, including the rupiah exchange rate and matters that Indonesia needs to be wary of.
The Central Banking Forum 2026 will also feature a panel discussion attended by representatives from regulators, government, banking, and research institutions.
First, Head of the Monetary and Securities Asset Management Department (DPMA) of Bank Indonesia, Erwin Gunawan Hutapea, will discuss BI’s main strategies in keeping the rupiah stable and the rupiah outlook amid global uncertainty.
Second, Director of Economic Stabilisation Strategy at the Directorate General of Fiscal Economic Strategy and Finance (DJSEF) of the Ministry of Finance, Noor Faisal Achmad, will discuss the Ministry of Finance’s strategies in keeping the state budget safe amid global exchange rate volatility.
