KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Malaysia will host a three-day economic
conference starting January 27 to be attended by Southeast Asian
central bank governors, officials said on Monday.
Bank Negara Malaysia said the theme of the annual conference
of the governors of Southeast Asian Central Banks is "Achieving
sustainable growth."
The meeting represents an important opportunity for governors
to meet in an "informal environment to review developments in
member countries and discuss issues of common interest," it said.
Among the 11 members of the association are Bank Indonesia,
Bank of Korea, Bank Negara Malaysia, the Monetary Authority of
Singapore, the Central Bank of China and the Bank of Thailand.
The central bank said the meeting would also enable the
governors to exchange views and share experiences in implementing
policies to achieve sustainable growth.
