Central Bangka Strengthens Digital Education for Parents to Support PP Tunas
Koba, Bangka Belitung Islands (ANTARA) - The Central Bangka Regency Government, Bangka Belitung Islands (Babel), is intensifying digital education for parents as a step to support the implementation of Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 on the Protection and Governance of Electronic Systems in Child Protection (PP Tunas), which will take effect on 28 March 2026.
The Head of the Central Bangka Education Office, Indrawadi, in Koba on Sunday, stated that educators in all educational units are urged not only to provide digital education to students but also to parents.
He expressed support for the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia in implementing PP Tunas effectively, particularly regarding restrictions on children’s digital spaces.
According to him, such restrictions are crucial because there are still several platforms that have the potential to influence children’s thought patterns and development.
In addition, monitoring the use of gadgets or mobile phones by children, especially in the home environment, is considered highly dependent on the role of parents in protecting them.
Indrawadi also highlighted the ongoing digital literacy gap between parents and children.
He explained that children growing up as the digital generation or digital natives generally understand technology better than their parents.
“There are still parents who do not understand the platforms used by their children, so the supervision carried out is not yet optimal,” he said.
The local government, he added, will continue to promote improvements in digital literacy through various socialisation and assistance programmes involving schools and educational communities.
These efforts are expected to strengthen the family’s role in creating a safe and healthy digital environment for children, in line with national policies on child protection in cyberspace.
