CENTCOM refuses to disclose whether Bushehr nuclear plant is among targets of US military strikes on Iran

Moscow — The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has refused to provide a list of American military targets in Iran to RIA Novosti, whilst raising the possibility that the Bushehr nuclear power plant (NPP), which is being constructed with the participation of Russia’s Rosatom company, could be included.

“We are still unable to provide any information regarding that matter,” said the CENTCOM press service in response to questions about the potential targets of strikes.

On Saturday morning (28 February), President Donald Trump announced the commencement of a large-scale military operation against Iran.

Currently, Iran has only one operational nuclear power plant, located at Bushehr, which is being constructed with Russian assistance.

The first unit of the nuclear power plant, which was completed with Russian participation, was connected to Iran’s national electricity grid in September 2011.

The second phase of the power station, which will include two generating units, is currently under construction.
