Census to start for expatriates

JAKARTA (JP): The municipal authorities will be taking a
census of foreigners living in the capital.

The census, which begins today, will target expatriates
working for companies throughout the city. The officials in
charge will check on their passports, stay permits and other such
documents.

Agus Suniran, deputy to the chief of the agency, said over the
weekend that the operation will be carried out from 8 a.m. to 5
p.m. daily through Feb. 8.

Agus said the operation will be conducted at 120 companies in
Central Jakarta from Monday through Wednesday, in North Jakarta
at 72 companies from Thursday through Jan. 24, in West Jakarta at
five firms from Jan. 25 to Jan. 30, in South Jakarta at 81 firms
from Jan. 31 to Feb. 2, and in East Jakarta at 110 firms from
Feb. 6 to Feb. 8. (bsr)
