Cempaka Putih Barat Residents Turn Plastic Bottles into Economic Products

Residents of RW 05, Cempaka Putih Barat Urban Village, Central Jakarta, are processing used plastic bottle waste into various economically valuable handicrafts by utilising a Filamini machine and a 3D printer. The Filamini machine, 3D printer, and a plastic waste press were provided as assistance through a corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek) in collaboration with Mercu Buana University, received approximately two weeks ago. Cempaka Putih Barat Urban Village Head Ani Purnama explained that the process begins with sorting, cleaning, and cutting used plastic bottles into thin sheets. These sheets are then used as raw material for the 3D printer to create various handicrafts, such as keychains and replica toys. Ani expressed hope that the equipment would raise public awareness that plastic waste can still hold value if processed properly. She is optimistic that the assistance of these three processing tools will accelerate the reduction of inorganic waste in the Cempaka Putih Barat area.
