Cell Search Uncovers Mobile Phones, Indramayu Prison Tightens Surveillance
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, INDRAMAYU – Staff at the Class IIB Indramayu Penitentiary are further tightening surveillance to anticipate the entry of prohibited goods. Several prohibited items are still being found inside inmates’ cells.
To this end, Indramayu Prison held a “Zero Halinar” (Handphone, Extortion, and Narcotics) pledge on Friday (8/5/2026). The activity was also accompanied by searches of inmates’ cells and urine tests.
“Today we are carrying out a pledge for a penitentiary free from illegal mobile phones, narcotics, and extortion,” said the Head of Class IIB Indramayu Prison, Feri Berthoni.
In the raid, prison officers along with police, military, and the National Narcotics Agency Office combed through various housing blocks. The result was the discovery of various prohibited items, from plates to communication devices.
“From the results of the joint raid as seen again, these are tools or items that have the potential to violate disciplinary rules. We are not hiding what was found; it is displayed here, such as plates, as well as communication devices,” said Feri.
