Celebrating Jakarta's 499th Anniversary, PKB and BBNKB Fines Automatically Waived
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has offered residents a special gift as part of the city’s 499th anniversary celebrations. Through a new policy, the administration is automatically waiving administrative sanctions, or fines, for Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) and Motor Vehicle Title Transfer Fees (BBNKB). The policy is stipulated in the Decree of the Head of the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) of DKI Jakarta Province Number e-0018 of 2026 concerning the Official Administrative Sanction Exemption for Motor Vehicle Tax and Motor Vehicle Title Transfer Fees. Under this scheme, residents with overdue PKB or BBNKB payments can settle their tax obligations without incurring administrative sanctions in the form of late payment interest. Taxpayers are therefore required to pay only the principal tax owed in accordance with applicable regulations. This administrative sanction waiver is granted automatically through the Regional Tax system. Taxpayers do not need to submit an application, draft a request letter, or visit an office to separately request a fine waiver. The facility applies to taxpayers who make payments or remittances of tax owed during the period from 1 June to 31 August 2026. Throughout this period, the public has the opportunity to settle their PKB and BBNKB obligations without the additional burden of late payment interest. The policy represents a form of relief provided by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to the public, particularly taxpayers aiming to restore their vehicle administration compliance. With the fine waiver, it is hoped residents can more easily fulfil their tax duties without being burdened by late penalties. Beyond offering relief, the policy is also an effort by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to encourage improved motor vehicle tax payment compliance. The official administrative sanction exemption programme also aligns with efforts to enhance the effectiveness of digital-based tax services. By having a system that automatically adjusts the waivers, the payment process becomes easier, faster, and more practical for the public. Motor vehicle tax is a vital source of regional revenue. Public contributions through tax payments will be returned in the form of development and improved public services in Jakarta. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is urging residents to take advantage of this PKB and BBNKB administrative sanction exemption period. Taxpayers are encouraged to promptly pay the principal vehicle tax during the programme period so that their vehicle documentation is compliant while simultaneously contributing to Jakarta’s development. With this policy in place, the momentum of Jakarta’s 499th anniversary is expected to be not only a celebration, but also an opportunity for residents to fulfil their regional tax obligations in a manner that is lighter, easier, and beneficial for the city’s progress.
