Celebrating Indonesia's 81st Independence Day, Labschool Students Take on Lari Lintas Juang
In an effort to build a generation of young people with strong character who are ready to become leaders towards Indonesia Emas 2045, SMP and SMA Labschool across the Jakarta area simultaneously held the Lari Lintas Juang (Lalinju) as part of the commemoration of the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.
Lalinju 2026 was participated in by students of SMP and SMA Labschool Rawamangun, Kebayoran, Cibubur, Cirendeu, Bintaro, and Ciracas. The student participants ran from the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery in South Jakarta to their six respective school locations.
The activity, held on Monday (17/8/2026), was organised as part of the character-building and leadership development process for students, particularly for prospective OSIS and MPK board members.
The activity brought together prospective OSIS and MPK board members with outgoing board members, serving as part of a regeneration process as well as a transfer of values and leadership experience between generations.
Rector of Universitas Negeri Jakarta Prof. Dr. Komarudin, M.Si., officially led the national assembly and released the Lari Lintas Juang participants. During the assembly, participants received guidance on the importance of emulating the struggles of heroes and maintaining national spirit as the next generation.
Senior high school participants ran a distance of approximately 17 kilometres, while junior high school participants covered approximately 8 kilometres. These distances symbolise the date of the Proclamation of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia and represent the spirit, resilience, and fighting power that a leader must possess.
Chairman of the Sumber Setia Berkah Foundation and Head of BPH Labschool Ciracas Hariyadi Sukamdani said the Lari Lintas Juang event serves as a momentum to foster a spirit of struggle and nationalism among the Labschool community.
“We fully support this annual Lari Lintas Juang activity, which aims to instil a patriotic spirit, love for the homeland, and maintain student fitness. Towards Indonesia Emas 2045, we need to prepare a young generation with high fighting spirit and national spirit,” he said.
Principal of SMA Labschool Ciracas Risang Danardana said the participation of SMA Labschool Ciracas in Lari Lintas Juang reflects the school’s commitment to instilling values of patriotism, leadership, discipline, and an unyielding spirit in its students.
“Lari Lintas Juang is not merely a sporting activity, but a medium for character learning. Through the experience of travelling together, students learn about the meaning of struggle, togetherness, responsibility, and leadership. We hope this experience shapes the character of a young generation with a spirit of service, integrity, and love for their nation,” he said.
According to Risang, the Lari Lintas Juang tradition is a form of character education that combines the values of history, nationalism, leadership, and togetherness. During the journey, participants carried a relay baton of the Red and White Flag as a symbol of the intergenerational relay of struggle. The activity was carried out under the escort of TNI and Polri personnel and supported by a medical team and ambulances to ensure the safety and security of all participants.
Upon arriving at their respective schools, the series of activities continued with a flag ceremony and a handover ceremony for the OSIS and MPK board positions.
“Through this tradition, we want to foster awareness that the independence we enjoy today is the result of a struggle that must be appreciated and continued through work, achievement, and responsible leadership,” said Risang.
