Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Ambassador to France, Mohamad Oemar, expressed his hope that the values of Ramadan could continue to be implemented in everyday life, including in maintaining harmony within society.

He stated this following the Eid al-Fitr prayer, as quoted in a press release from the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Paris on Sunday (22/3).

Oemar added that this year’s Eid al-Fitr prayer was conducted simply, taking into account the conditions and global geopolitical dynamics, as a form of solidarity.

The prayer, held at the Wisma Duta RI on Friday (20/3), was attended by around 400 Indonesian expatriates and diaspora in France.

In his sermon, Ustaz Rizky Hegia Sampurna said that Eid al-Fitr is a momentum to return to simplicity, cleanse the heart, and strengthen care for others.

He also reminded the importance of maintaining balance in life within a diverse society and building good relationships regardless of background, as an expression of gratitude.

Indonesian students pursuing education at Le Cordon Bleu and La Sorbonne, Fathia and Lala, interpreted Eid al-Fitr as a moment for self-improvement.

According to them, celebrating Eid al-Fitr abroad is an opportunity to strengthen brotherhood and foster a spirit of mutual cooperation within the community.

As a manifestation of solidarity and care for fellow citizens in the homeland, the KBRI Paris, in collaboration with the Indonesian Muslim Community Association in France (PERMIIP) and Dompet Dhuafa, facilitated the collection of zakat fitrah, zakat maal, infak, and sedekah from the community and Indonesian diaspora in France.
