Celebrating 9 Years in Indonesia, Wuling Introduces New Electric Car
Wuling Indonesia has introduced its newest electric vehicle line in the urban car segment, the Aira EV, as part of the celebration of nine years of Wuling’s presence in Indonesia. However, the car will be officially launched at the nation’s largest automotive exhibition, the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026, at the end of this month. “In its nine-year journey, Wuling has grown together with Indonesian families. Every achievement we have made is the result of the hard work and dedication of all employees and the trust given by customers, both in Indonesia and in various global markets,” said Wuling Motors President Director Tang Wensheng during the unveiling ceremony for the Wuling Aira EV at the Wuling factory in Cikarang, West Java, on Saturday (11/7). Unlike Wuling’s previous urban mini cars, the Aira EV comes with longer and wider dimensions and features four doors. Equipped with a 25.1 kWh battery, the car can travel up to 300 kilometres on a single charge based on CLTC calculations. Wuling described the arrival of the Aira EV as a further effort by the company to expand its New Energy Vehicle (NEV) portfolio in Indonesia. The Chinese brand under the SGMW group already has six EV models across various segments, ranging from urban mini cars and family cars to commercial vehicles. Over the past year, Wuling has also begun expanding its plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) line with the Darion PHEV and Eksion PHEV, having previously offered the Almaz Hybrid since 2022. In addition to introducing a range of new vehicle choices to the domestic market, Wuling reported that it has locally produced more than 200,000 cars over the past nine years, some of which have been exported to various countries. Furthermore, Wuling-assembled cars have cumulatively been used by 180,000 customers in Indonesia.
