Ceiling at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport Collapses, Repair Targeted for Completion Today
TANGERANG - Repairs to the collapsed ceiling in the Boarding Lounge at Gate 7 of Terminal 3 at Soekarno-Hatta Airport are targeted to be completed today, Wednesday (8/4/2026). Corporate Secretary Group Head of InJourney Airports, Arie Ahsanurrohim, stated that the ceiling was damaged following heavy rain accompanied by strong winds that struck Tangerang City on Monday (6/4/2026). This included the international Soekarno-Hatta Airport, which also impacted various activities in the terminal. The damage to the ceiling was triggered by the high volume of rainwater exceeding the drainage pipe capacity. Therefore, he assured that the repairs are being carried out in accordance with procedures and do not disrupt flight services or safety. “The location has been sterilised to ensure security and services remain maintained, especially at Boarding Gate 7 of Terminal 3,” he explained. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) previously issued a wind shear warning across all runways during the incident, with wind speeds reaching 30 knots. Additionally, thunderstorm rain (TSRA) conditions were detected with wind speeds of 17–30 knots.
