CCTV Footage Shows Moments Activist Andrie Yunus Attacked with Caustic Acid

CCTV footage shows Contras Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus becoming a victim of a caustic acid attack on Thursday evening, 12 March.

The incident occurred after Andrie Yunus attended a podcast event titled “Remilitarisation and Judicial Review in Indonesia”.

As he was passing along Salemba I Road, Andrie noticed a motorcycle approaching with two occupants heading in the opposite direction. When the two vehicles passed each other, the perpetrators directly sprayed what was suspected to be caustic acid towards the victim.

The liquid struck the right side of Andrie’s body, particularly his eyes, face, chest, and hands. The case is currently being processed by investigators from the Criminal Investigation Unit of Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police.
