CCTV Footage Reveals Moments Before Pedestrian Killed by Transjakarta Bus, Victim Seen Staggering
Jakarta, VIVA – CCTV footage has captured the moments leading up to a pedestrian identified as S (27) being run over by a Transjakarta bus on Jalan Margasatwa Raya, Pondok Labu, Cilandak, South Jakarta, on Thursday 12 February at approximately 14:20 local time.
In the footage, which has circulated on social media including via the @jakselupdate account, the victim appeared to unknowingly approach the bus whilst it was stationary at the Taman DDN Pondok Labu bus stop. Whilst standing near the bus, S appeared to be staggering, with their body swaying left and right as though in a weakened state.
The victim then disappeared from the bus's internal CCTV camera. It is believed S bent down and fell directly in front of the rear wheels. The driver, apparently unaware of S's presence, then moved the bus forward, running over the victim.
The Traffic Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police previously disclosed the chronology of the Transjakarta accident that killed the pedestrian in South Jakarta on Thursday 12 February 2026. Head of the Law Enforcement Sub-directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Traffic Directorate, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Ojo Ruslani, explained that the incident occurred at approximately 14:20 local time on Jalan Margasatwa Raya heading westbound, precisely at the Taman DDN bus stop.
Prior to the accident, the Transjakarta bus bearing registration number B-7756-TGC, driven by SH (55), was travelling from east to west along Jalan Margasatwa Raya, South Jakarta. Upon reaching the scene, specifically at the Taman DDN bus stop, the rear wheels of the bus allegedly ran over the pedestrian S (28).
"As a result of the traffic accident, the pedestrian identified as S sustained injuries and died at the scene," said Ojo.
PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) has handed over all handling and investigation of the case involving the bus driver who ran over the pedestrian on Jalan Margasatwa Raya, South Jakarta, to the police.
"We have handed over the entire handling and investigation process to the police and respect the ongoing legal procedures. The case is currently being handled by the Jakarta Metropolitan Police," said Head of Public Relations and CSR Department of PT Transjakarta, Ayu Wardhani, in Jakarta.
Transjakarta expressed its deepest condolences and sympathy over the incident.
