CCTV Footage Reveals Last Moments of Ali Khamenei Before Martyrdom, Sitting and Reading the Quran

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TEHERAN – The Iranian government released a photo from CCTV footage on Thursday (26/3/2026) that captured the last moments of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei before his martyrdom. Khamenei was martyred following a US-Israel attack that bombed his residence in Tehran on Saturday (28/2/2026). In the photo, which has been circulated and confirmed by local and international media, Khamenei is seen wearing his characteristic brown suit, sitting in one of the rooms reading the Quran. Beside Khamenei, on a table, there are two framed photos: one of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini and another of General Qassem Soleimani. Ali Khamenei has now been succeeded by his son Mojtaba Khamenei, who reportedly survived the US-Israel attack on 28 February. Mojtaba was reported last week to have rejected a war de-escalation proposal presented to Tehran through intermediary countries. According to a senior Iranian official to Reuters on Tuesday (17/3/2026), Mojtaba demands that Israel and the US “kneel” first.
