CCTV Captures Residents Outside During Nyepi at Simpang Pesanggaran, Denpasar

A screenshot from a surveillance camera (CCTV) owned by the Bali Transportation Department (Dishub) shows residents’ activities outside their homes during Nyepi Day. The incident is said to have occurred at Simpang Pesanggaran, in the Pedungan area, South Denpasar, Denpasar City, on Thursday (19/3/2026). A Dishub Bali official confirmed the incident. He stated that the event was recorded around 5:19 PM WITA. “That is an automatic CCTV capture because the ATCS CC room personnel were off during Nyepi, so there were no personnel who could communicate to the local customary village,” said the official when confirmed. He explained that there is a banjar hall at that intersection. However, he was unsure whether there were pecalang guarding the location so that it could be immediately addressed or not. Furthermore, he urged all parties to prioritise education and mutual reminders without carrying out any persecution against any party.
