CCTV Captures Brutal Assault as Four Motorbike Thieves Apprehended in Bandung

A violent robbery attempt in the Melong Kaler Cikawao area of Lengkong District, Bandung City, West Java, was captured on CCTV. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, 17 June 2026, when a resident from Garut named Ardi was attacked by a group of robbers while returning home from work. Despite being assaulted with sharp weapons and sustaining injuries to his cheek, back, and hands, Ardi managed to prevent the perpetrators from stealing his motorbike.

According to CCTV footage and the victim’s account, Ardi had become suspicious after feeling he was being followed during his journey home. He decided to divert to his fiancée’s residence in the Melong Kaler Cikawao area. Upon entering an alley, the suspects cornered his vehicle, causing him to fall. Ardi then attempted to secure his motorbike by removing the ignition key, an act of resistance that prompted the attackers to slash him with sharp weapons. He subsequently fled to seek help from nearby residents.

During the struggle, an online food delivery driver tried to intervene but panicked and retreated when the assailants brandished their weapons. Having failed to steal Ardi’s motorbike, the perpetrators turned their attention to the delivery driver, stealing his motorbike and mobile phone. The suspects were quickly located in the Cibeureum area after the stolen phone was tracked. Four individuals were subsequently detained and handed over to the Bandung Police.

Bandung Police Deputy Chief Commissioner Aji Riznaldi Nugroho confirmed that officers acted swiftly upon receiving the report from the online delivery driver.
