CCTV Across Jakarta to be Integrated, Pramono: Security is Top Priority
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the Jakarta Provincial Government will collaborate with the Metro Jaya Regional Police to connect CCTV cameras from various locations throughout Jakarta. He emphasised that security in Jakarta remains a top priority for his administration.
“Security issues in Jakarta frankly remain the top priority of the Jakarta Provincial Government that I lead,” Pramono told reporters at the Pustu Meruya Selatan 2, West Jakarta, on Monday (18/05/2026).
He explained that the Jakarta Provincial Government and the Metro Jaya Police will coordinate surveillance from cameras owned by the provincial government, the police, other agencies, and private buildings. This integration is intended to simplify the monitoring of situations across the capital.
“Today, we will establish cooperation with the Head of the Metro Jaya Regional Police regarding how CCTV across all of Jakarta—whether owned by the Jakarta Provincial Government, the Metro Jaya Police, other agencies, or buildings taller than four storeys—can be well-coordinated,” he said.
Pramono noted that the Jakarta Provincial Government has also prepared programmes to maintain security, including the implementation of social safety nets.
“Consequently, under these conditions, the Jakarta Provincial Government has also prepared the necessary social safety nets that will be required in the future,” he added.
Pramono stated that his administration is coordinating with law enforcement to address security issues. He expressed hope that integrated CCTV monitoring could serve as an early deterrent against law-breaking activities.
“If this can be achieved, it can serve as an initial monitoring tool for individuals exhibiting undesirable behaviour in Jakarta,” he concluded.
