CBI and Indosat Strengthen Collaboration to Support Inclusive Credit Assessment
PT Credit Bureau Indonesia (CBI) is strengthening its strategic collaboration with Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) to support the development of a more inclusive and responsible credit risk assessment system in Indonesia. “CBI is building the next generation of credit bureau infrastructure in Indonesia that is fast, reliable, and responsive to the needs of the digital economy. The partnership with IOH strengthens our Bureau Telco Score and increases the coverage of credit analysis in various regions and income segments that have been underserved,” said CBI President Director Anton Adiwibowo in his statement on Tuesday. The collaboration is aimed at addressing financial inclusion challenges, particularly for segments of society that lack adequate formal credit histories. In the partnership, CBI utilises anonymised and aggregated analytical insights from telecommunications-related indicators, processed within a secure framework that protects privacy. CBI states that there is no exchange of individual personal data in the collaboration, and all processes are conducted in accordance with applicable regulations, including the Personal Data Protection Law (PDP) and provisions of the Financial Services Authority (OJK). The utilisation of these insights forms part of the development of the Bureau Telco Score, which is developed, owned, and operated by CBI as a licensed Credit Information Management Institution (LPIP), as an alternative approach to credit risk assessment that complements conventional models. CBI notes that the use of this score enables financial institutions to assess creditworthiness more comprehensively, especially for new-to-credit segments, SMEs, and people with informal incomes, while prioritising data governance. This collaboration also reflects IOH’s commitment to applying secure and regulation-compliant analytical technology to support more inclusive decision-making.
