Cawang Interchange Traffic Gridlocked as Vehicles Pour in from Outer Jakarta Toll Roads
Heavy traffic congestion occurred at the Cawang toll interchange in East Jakarta, caused by the continued high volume of vehicles flowing in from the Jakarta-Cikampek and Jagorawi toll roads.
Jasamarga reported that on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road heading towards Jakarta, vehicle congestion had built up from the Halim Perdanakusuma area towards Cawang, driven by increased traffic volume.
“Halim to Cawang CONGESTED, heavy traffic volume,” Jasamarga said via its X account @PTJASAMARGA on Thursday (19 February 2026).
The congestion on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road between Halim and Cawang had been reported by Jasamarga since 07.05 Western Indonesian Time, attributed to the surge in vehicle numbers.
The Cawang interchange is a critical point as it serves as the meeting point for four toll road sections. The congestion at Cawang was also caused by the convergence of traffic from the Jagorawi toll road.
Jasamarga reported heavy vehicle volume from Kali Cipinang towards Cawang, whilst traffic from Cawang heading towards Bogor was reported as flowing smoothly.
“09.40 WIB Jagorawi Toll Road: Cawang - TMII - Cibubur - Bogor - Ciawi CLEAR. Kali Cipinang to Cawang CONGESTED, heavy traffic volume,” the company said.
Traffic congestion also occurred on the Jakarta Inner City Toll Road, with heavy traffic at several points.
“09.36 WIB Inner City Toll Road: Cawang to Pancoran CONGESTED, heavy traffic volume. Kuningan to Semanggi CONGESTED, heavy traffic volume,” it reported.
A contraflow operation at Halim 3 toll gate from Km 01+300 to Senayan Km 08+100 had been completed.
Vehicle congestion on the Jakarta Inner City Toll Road was also present at other points, caused by increased traffic volumes passing through.
“09.36 WIB Inner City Toll Road: Kapuk to Pluit CONGESTED, heavy traffic volume. Tomang to Senayan CONGESTED, heavy traffic volume,” the company added.
