Cawang City Park Suspected Site of Immoral Activities; Gerindra Calls for Tighter Surveillance

A member of Commission D of the Jakarta Provincial Parliament from the Gerindra faction, Ali Lubis, has called on the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta to intensify surveillance at Cawang City Park in East Jakarta after the area was again highlighted as a hub for immoral activities. Ali also requested that the provincial government ensure such incidents do not recur.

“Regarding the park in Cawang that is suspected of being used for immoral activities, I urge the Jakarta Provincial Government to be more proactive in its oversight—for instance, by stationing Civil Police (Satpol PP) at the park for patrol duty to prevent this from happening again,” Ali told journalists on Monday, 2 March 2026.

The head of the Gerindra party branch in East Jakarta urged the provincial government to also conduct surveillance in other public spaces, warning that similar incidents are likely elsewhere.

“I also request that the Jakarta Provincial Government immediately conduct field inspections of all parks across Jakarta, not just in the Cawang area. I am concerned that this may also be occurring elsewhere, but is not going viral on social media,” he said.

Additionally, Ali called on the provincial government to increase CCTV coverage in city park areas. This would enable staff to immediately detect suspicious activity.

“If there are dark parks in Jakarta, then install lighting immediately, and even install CCTV around the parks so that if anything unusual occurs, it can be detected,” he said.

Cawang City Park in East Jakarta is believed to have become a site of immoral activities involving several men. Various items suspected of being used in such activities were discovered there.

These items were found by detikcom during field reporting on Saturday, 28 February. Initially, detikcom discovered a bundle of contraceptives (condoms) in red near a large tree inside the park. Subsequently, used lubricant gel packets were also found. Various packaging of wet tissues branded Magicmax were also discovered.

Additionally, used and discarded condoms were found on the ground. In the gaps between broken tree trunks, two bottles of alcohol with liquid remaining and open caps were also found.
