Caution during fasting month

From Neraca

During Ramadhan and around Lebaran (the post fasting day of
festivity) many traders earn their living in various dishonest
ways.

Apart from increasing prices, they mix the rice with low
quality brands and minced beef is mixed with other meat. Last
year, butchers at Pasar Minggu sold such meat at a low price,
which was later discovered to be the meat of boars, which had
been smuggled into Jakarta.

Quite a number of supermarkets also launch sales at
promotional prices, which are actually higher than the pre
Lebaran prices.

The government, as well as the Indonesian Consumers Foundation
(YLKI), should attend to these matters, which are detrimental to
Muslims and consumers with tight budgets.
