Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The celebration of Eid Al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah, expected to fall in the third week of March 2026, is anticipated to prompt approximately 144 million Indonesians to travel home for the holiday exodus.

Rivan A. Purwantono, Chief Executive Officer of PT Jasa Marga Tbk (JSMR), confirmed that PT Jasa Marga Tbk, a state-owned enterprise in the toll road sector, is fully prepared with strategic measures to optimise toll road operations and ensure smooth traffic flow for both outbound and return journeys in 2026.

Jasa Marga has conducted comprehensive assessments and strengthened its contingency strategies starting six months ahead of the Eid exodus period. Key preparations include increasing surveillance cameras equipped with intelligent traffic analysis (ITA) technology.

The operator estimates that approximately 3.6 million vehicles – a 1.4% increase from 2025 – will traverse all Jasa Marga Group toll road segments during the Eid exodus period. Traffic distribution is projected as follows: 50% heading towards Trans Java, 28% towards Merak, and 20% towards Bogor.

Additionally, Jasa Marga is collaborating with the National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas), the Meteorological Agency, and other relevant stakeholders to address extreme weather conditions anticipated during the holiday period. Preparations include deployment of 490 patrol, security, and recovery vehicles.

The dialogue exploring toll road readiness in anticipation of the 2026 Eid exodus congestion was conducted between Dina Gurning and Rivan A. Purwantono, Chief Executive Officer of PT Jasa Marga Tbk, as part of the Focus On Infra programme on CNBC Indonesia on Monday, 2 March 2026.
