Caustic Liquid Poured on Andrie Yunus Has Strong Odour and Damages Motorcycle Seat

JAKARTA - A resident named Muhammad Hidayat stated that the caustic liquid poured onto the body of Andrie Yunus, Vice Coordinator of KontraS, had a strong odour. Hidayat provided this testimony as a witness during a trial at the Military Court II-08 in Jakarta. The pouring of the caustic liquid was carried out by four TNI BAIS members, namely Sersan Dua Edi Sudarko, Letnan Satu (Lettu) Budhi Hariyanto Widhi, Kapten Nandala Dwi Prasetya, and Lettu Sami Lakka. Moreover, the liquid also damaged the motorcycle seat belonging to Andrie Yunus. “The front and the seat (were destroyed),” he added. After the incident, Hidayat briefly chased the perpetrators using the victim’s motorcycle. Then, Hidayat returned to the scene of the pouring and returned the victim’s motorcycle, which he had used to chase the suspects. “About 100 metres (the chase), because the motorcycle still had a lot of that dangerous liquid. So I turned back, approached the victim, and gave the motorcycle back to him,” Hidayat explained. Previously, the four TNI personnel were charged with pouring caustic liquid on Andrie Yunus in Central Jakarta. The motive was resentment over Andrie interrupting a meeting discussing revisions to the TNI Law at the Fairmont Jakarta Hotel on 16 March 2025. The four defendants are charged with multiple articles, namely Article 469 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code as the primary charge, Article 468 paragraph (1) as subsidiary, and Articles 467 paragraphs (1) and (2) as further subsidiary, in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of Law No. 1 of 2023.
