Jakarta — The caustic acid attack case against Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence, has been officially elevated to the investigation stage by police.

The confirmation was provided by AKBP Roby Saputra, Head of Criminal Investigation at Central Jakarta Metro Police, who stated that the case status has been upgraded from inquiry to investigation.

“Yes, it has advanced to investigation,” said Roby when confirmed by Kompas.com on Saturday (14 March 2026).

Nevertheless, investigators remain focused on pursuing the perpetrator and have not yet named a suspect. Roby explained that the naming of a suspect can only occur after the case enters the investigation phase.

During the investigation process, police are currently tracing the identity of the perpetrator whose actions were captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage near the crime scene.

“The perpetrator’s identity is still under investigation,” Roby stated.

The continuation of the investigation was also emphasised by Jakarta Metro Police Chief Asep Edi Suheri whilst inspecting holiday traffic at Pulogebang Integrated Terminal in East Jakarta on Saturday (14 March 2026).

“We are still conducting in-depth work. My officers are still working; let us hope it can be resolved quickly,” said Asep.

The post in question came from an account named @Robe1807 which urged police to apprehend the perpetrator immediately. In the post, the account also included screenshots from the official United Nations Human Rights Office account highlighting the caustic acid attack case against Andrie.

The photograph circulating online showed two men on a motorcycle. The front rider appeared to be wearing a light blue cap and black helmet, whilst the man behind wore a dark blue shirt without a helmet.

However, Roby confirmed that the image circulating had been processed using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
