Several areas in Jakarta experienced a sudden power outage on Thursday evening, 9 April 2026. The disruption occurred in various districts, including Central Jakarta, North Jakarta, and West Jakarta, and was widely complained about by residents on social media.

Senior Manager of Communications and Public Relations for PLN UID Jakarta Raya, Haris Andika, confirmed the disturbance. He stated that the outage was triggered by problems with electricity supply from several substations.

A power supply disruption occurred in several areas of Jakarta originating from several substations this evening, Haris said in a written statement on Thursday, 9 April 2026.

Until 20:00 WIB, the outage was still occurring in the Angke sub-district, North Jakarta, and surrounding areas. PLN, according to Haris, is carrying out a gradual normalisation process and will continue to provide updates to the public.

This electricity disruption also affected transportation services. PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) reported temporary operational disturbances at several stations since 17:57 WIB due to power supply issues from PLN.

Several facilities such as lighting, lifts, and escalators were temporarily non-functional, and all elevated stations experienced blackout conditions. However, MRT stated that the situation has now gradually returned to normal after quick handling.

Officers are still continuing to monitor the situation on the ground to ensure stable service operations. MRT Jakarta also expressed apologies to users for the inconvenience and emphasised that passenger safety remains the top priority.
