Cause of KRL Green Line Disruption: Lightning Strike
The journey on the KRL route from Tanah Abang to Rangkasbitung, or the Green Line, has experienced a disruption due to an overhead electrical issue. KAI Commuter stated that the electrical disruption occurred because of a lightning strike.
“After inspection by operational staff, the overhead electrical disruption between Jurangmangu Station and Pondok Ranji Station was due to the impact of a lightning strike, and it is currently being handled,” KAI Commuter wrote on its official X account on Monday (4/5/2026).
This was posted around 5:14 PM WIB. KRL journeys in the area are still delayed.
“Commuter Line journeys in the location are still waiting for safe passage,” KAI Commuter wrote.
KAI Commuter has asked users to follow the instructions of on-site staff. KAI also apologised for the inconvenience.
“We urge users to follow the directions and information from on-site staff. We apologise for the inconvenience,” KAI said.
Several KRL users have posted complaints about the incident. Users mentioned that the air conditioning inside the KRL has stopped, causing stuffy conditions in the carriages.
Some users also questioned how long the repair estimate would take. There were also users who said there was a buildup of passengers at the station.
