Cause of death of married man who hanged himself in North Jakarta being investigated

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kelapa Gading Police, North Jakarta, is investigating the cause of death of a married man, MAA (29), who allegedly hanged himself in a rented room on Jalan Puskesmas, Kelapa Gading Timur, Kelapa Gading District, North Jakarta.

“Currently, the victim’s body has been sent to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital for a post-mortem examination to complete the investigation process,” said the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kelapa Gading Police, AKP Kiki Tanlim, in Jakarta, Thursday.

He said that based on testimony from witnesses, including the victim’s wife, the victim had previously complained about financial difficulties and debt problems.

According to him, the victim had a significant amount of unpaid online loan debt.

In addition, the victim ran out of money due to online slot gambling, which led him to end his life.

He said that officers received information about the incident on Wednesday (February 25) night at around 11:37 p.m. and immediately went to the scene in the rented room.

“We immediately secured the crime scene and contacted the Identification Unit of the North Jakarta Metro Police to conduct an identification,” he said.

After that, they questioned a number of witnesses at the scene and called for an ambulance to take the victim to RSCM.

He said that based on testimony from the victim’s wife, after the victim returned from work, the witness and the victim were both in the rented room. The victim was on the terrace of the rented room, and his wife went into the room to sleep.

Then, the victim’s wife asked a neighbor to help open the locked bathroom door.

“The victim’s wife and two witnesses broke down the door and saw that the victim had died,” he said.
