Cause of Bekasi Train Collision: AHY Ensures KNKT Transparency
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), has stressed that the government is still awaiting the official investigation results from the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) regarding the cause of the collision between the KA Argo Bromo and the Commuter Line (KRL) at Bekasi Timur Station.
AHY assured that the investigation will be conducted comprehensively and transparently, given that the incident involves multiple parties and has drawn widespread public attention.
“This will be investigated thoroughly. KNKT has already agreed to conduct a thorough investigation,” AHY told reporters at Bekasi City Hospital, West Java, on Tuesday (28/4/2026).
He also requested that the investigation results be made transparent to the public, serving as educational material to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
“I demand transparency, openness, and explanation to the public. Because there must also be an educational factor,” he asserted.
In response to initial suspicions regarding possible signalling disruptions as the cause of the accident, AHY refrained from speculating. He emphasised the importance of waiting for the official KNKT report before drawing conclusions.
“It was also discussed earlier; once again, I want to wait for the complete official report from KNKT. Because this involves many stakeholders to ensure whether there is indeed a disruption, an error, or something that should not have happened, including regarding signalling. But it’s not just that; there are many other aspects,” he explained.
AHY stated that the investigation will not focus on a single factor but will comprehensively examine all aspects potentially contributing to the accident.
“Everything will be investigated; nothing can be overlooked. Because all can influence one another,” he concluded.
