Caught Up in Corruption Case, Profile of PT QSS Bauxite Company in West Kalimantan

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Attorney General’s Office (Kejaksaan Agung, AGO) of the Republic of Indonesia has formally named one suspect in a case of alleged corruption involving irregularities in the governance of mining business permits (IUP) for PT Quality Sukses Sejahtera (QSS) in West Kalimantan for the period 2017–2025. The suspect’s designation was announced by Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, Director of Investigations at the Directorate of Special Crimes (Jampidsus) of the AGO, at a press conference at the Bundar Building of the AGO, South Jakarta, Thursday evening, 21 May 2026. “And as of today we have secured several individuals from Pontianak and from Jakarta. And just now, as observed, we have named one suspect, just one so far, under the name SDT, the beneficial owner of PT QSS,” Syarief said. He explained that PT QSS had obtained an IUP for bauxite. However, they did not mine at the location the IUP covered, but mined elsewhere. “The bauxite being exported is sold using documents from PT QSS in collaboration with a state official. This has been carried out from 2017 through 2025,” Syarief said. “For the others, we are still conducting investigations up to now. Searches are also ongoing at several locations in Kalbar and in Jakarta,” he added. In the company’s management, Saifin is listed as director. The positions of commissioners are held by Sudianto and Yudie Abunawan. Meanwhile, shareholder data lists Saifin, Yudie Abunawan, Sudianto, and Hendry Tano as Indonesian nationals (WNI) who hold shares. PT QSS also holds a production operation IUP with permit number 503/07/IUP-OP/DPMPTSP-C.II/2019. The company holds a permit for the bauxite commodity with a mining area covering 1,334.08 hectares in Sanggau Regency, West Kalimantan. The IUP is valid from 28 January 2019 to 12 December 2038 with a Clean and Clear (CNC) status — CNC-1.
