Caught Stealing Motorcycle, Man in Lebak Brutally Beaten by Mob

Rangkasbitung - A man with the initials AN (37) was brutally beaten by a mob after being caught stealing a motorcycle belonging to a resident in Kampung Cijoro Bendungan, Desa Rangkasbitung Timur, Kecamatan Rangkasbitung, Kabupaten Lebak, Banten. The perpetrator has now been secured by the police. “The perpetrator AN was beaten by the mob after committing the theft of the victim’s motorcycle,” said the Head of Criminal Investigation at Rangkasbitung Police Station, IPDA Herman, on Sunday (15 February 2026). The theft was uncovered when the perpetrator’s friend had successfully taken the motorcycle parked in the victim’s yard. AN was waiting about 15 metres from the victim’s house at the time. Herman continued that their action was revealed after the victim witnessed the perpetrator’s deed. According to him, the victim immediately gave chase while shouting “thief”. “Upon hearing the victim’s shouts, residents quickly gathered to secure the perpetrator and the evidence. The mob, overcome by emotion, even assaulted the perpetrator,” he added. Herman stated that AN admitted intending to steal the motorcycle together with his friend. He confirmed that his team is still pursuing the perpetrator who escaped. “After interrogating the perpetrator, he finally admitted that he was the friend of the one who had stolen the victim’s motorcycle,” he concluded.
