Caught Stealing Cables Worth Rp 143 Million, Two Men Arrested in Cikarang

A theft of electrical cables worth hundreds of millions of rupiah in the South Cikarang area of Bekasi Regency was discovered by officers, with two suspects detained by police.

Head of Public Relations at Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Budi Hermanto, explained that the theft occurred in the early hours of Thursday (9/7) in the power house area of South Cikarang, Bekasi Regency. It began when an engineering officer carried out a routine inspection of the area.

“During the check, he heard a suspicious noise and found several pieces of cable on top of a panel,” said Kombes Budi Hermanto in his statement on Saturday (11/7/2026).

The discovery was then reported to security personnel. The security team subsequently combed the power house area and found a ladder near the dividing wall between the shopping mall and the petrol station.

“Based on the initial examination, the two individuals are suspected to have entered through the generator cooling vent,” he said.

Security officers then sealed off the exits and swept the interior of the building. It was then that officers found the two suspects along with cables that had been cut up and a number of tools.

Security officers then reported the incident to the South Cikarang Police Station. The two suspects, men with the initials N and S, were detained and taken to the South Cikarang Police Station.

Meanwhile, from the scene, officers secured evidence including approximately 40 metres of FRC cable that had been cut into pieces, around 200 metres of cable still on the cable run but already severed, a pair of pliers, a size 10 spanner, a cutter knife, a screwdriver, and a voltage tester pen.

“Based on the initial examination, losses arising from the damage and missing cables are estimated to reach Rp 143,760,000,” he continued.

The two detainees, along with the evidence, were then taken to the South Cikarang Police Station for questioning and further investigation. Investigators have applied charges of aggravated theft in accordance with applicable law.

“The South Cikarang Police are still investigating the role of each party, how they entered the location, and the possible involvement of other parties in this case,” he concluded.
