Caught on CCTV: What Was Taufik Hidayat's Purpose in Seeking Dedi Mulyadi?

Taufik Hidayat (30), a suspect in the kidnapping and assault of YTR (29), previously visited the official residence of West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi to seek a direct meeting. Dedi stated that Taufik claimed he came in order to be imprisoned. “So, from his language, he was ready to be imprisoned. But before being imprisoned, there was something he wanted to convey,” Dedi said, as reported by detikJabar on Tuesday (30/6/2026). Dedi said Taufik arrived in the early hours of the morning. Taufik was wearing a helmet and a mask when he approached the guard post at Gedung Pakuan. “So, Taufik came to Gedung Pakuan at 4.00 a.m. Western Indonesia Time, approached the guard post, and he spoke while wearing a helmet and a mask, ‘I want to meet the Governor, I want to be imprisoned, but there is something I must convey first,’” he revealed. Dedi confirmed that this information was not merely a rumour, but was clearly recorded on the CCTV cameras at Gedung Pakuan. At the time, Taufik, who had been named a suspect and was on the West Java Regional Police’s wanted list, was attempting to ask the guards for help so he could meet the governor. Furthermore, Dedi disclosed that Taufik also tried to visit his private residence in Lembur Pakuan, Subang Regency. However, the plan was aborted because the person driving him became frightened. “So that is what happened, and the CCTV footage exists. He was searching for me and he also tried to come to Lembur Pakuan. He got as far as Cikawung, but his driver did not dare continue, fearing they would be seen by people on the road and beaten up. So the driver was afraid,” he said.
