Caught on Camera by Children, Two Forest Fire Suspects Arrested in Palangkaraya

A viral video on social media shows two children inadvertently catching two men suspected of involvement in forest and land fires in Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan. The two men have now been detained by police for questioning. In the video, two children are seen riding a motorcycle through a fire-affected area at night. Along the way, they encounter two men, one of whom is wearing a headlamp, carrying a cigarette and holding a machete. The child asks the men where the fire is, but the men deny any knowledge. Shortly afterwards, the footage shows flames growing larger by the roadside as the children continue their journey, passing through areas filled with heat and fire. Palangkaraya Police Chief Senior Commissioner Deddy Supriadi confirmed the incident occurred on Jalan Kalibata Ujung, Palangka Raya City, on Monday 17 August. He said his team investigated the viral video and, after examining the crime scene and interviewing witnesses, managed to arrest the two suspects.
