Caught in Immigration Sting, Silmy Karim's Wealth Totalling Rp234.5 Billion Revealed
Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections (Wamen Imipas) Silmy Karim has officially donned the KPK’s orange detainee vest after being caught in an immigration sting operation. The former Director General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights for the 2023-2024 period holds assets exceeding Rp200 billion. Based on the State Administrators’ Wealth Report (LHKPN), Silmy Karim’s total wealth amounted to Rp234.59 billion in the 2025 reporting period. This report was submitted on 14 March 2026; the LHKPN document has completed full administrative verification and was published through the KPK’s electronic reporting system. According to the LHKPN document, Silmy’s total assets reached Rp243.59 billion. After deducting debts of Rp8.99 billion, his total net worth is recorded at Rp234.59 billion. The LHKPN records that Silmy’s largest assets are in land and buildings, valued at Rp184.02 billion. The properties are located across several areas of South Jakarta and East Jakarta, with asset values in the tens of billions of rupiah. Two properties in South Jakarta are particularly extensive in size. One plot of land and building covering 743 square metres/863 square metres is valued at Rp43.51 billion, whilst another plot of land and building covering 1,860 square metres/853 square metres is valued at Rp31.92 billion. Besides property, Wamen Silmy Karim also has a collection of vehicles and machinery worth Rp8.47 billion. The highest-value vehicle is a 2022 Mercedes G63 estimated at Rp6 billion. He also reported several classic and hobby luxury vehicles, including two Harley Davidson motorbikes, a 1988 Jeep CJ7, a 1979 Mercedes Benz 280E, a 1981 Toyota Land Cruiser, and a 1996 Jeep Wrangler. Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, affirmed the government’s full support for the KPK’s steps in investigating the alleged corruption in the immigration sector. Yusril expressed deep concern over the legal case being handled by the KPK regarding alleged irregularities in immigration services. The KPK has officially detained eight suspects in the corruption case at the Directorate General of Immigration, including Deputy Minister Silmy Karim, on charges of alleged extortion and gratification relating to documents.
