Denpasar’s Traffic Department (Dishub) is ensuring that the Catur Muka area will be filled with ogoh-ogoh processions during the pengerupukan night on 18 March 2026. Traffic management has been prepared since the morning, with 31 personnel deployed to manage congestion at the city’s central point.

“From tomorrow morning we will be on standby, because before the pengerupukan night, there is a Pencaruan Agung ceremony at Catur Muka in the morning. The eastern access will be temporarily closed,” said Denpasar Traffic Department Head I Ketut Sriawan during an interview at Ubung Terminal on Tuesday (17/3/2026).

Sriawan stated that traffic flow management will be implemented during the entire Pencaruan ceremony and ogoh-ogoh procession.

“Tomorrow there will be a series of Pencaruan activities and ogoh-ogoh processions at Catur Muka. Vehicles from the west (Gajah Mada intersection) will be diverted to Sumatera Street,” he explained.

Subsequent drivers will be directed southbound, but cannot access Udayana Street as that access is closed. The Catur Muka area is expected to be filled by ogoh-ogoh processionists.

However, congestion is not expected to be particularly significant as many residents have opted to travel home in anticipation of Eid al-Fitr.

The Traffic Department is also managing the movement of youths carrying the ogoh-ogoh. From the west, the procession can circle Catur Muka once, then move southbound towards Udayana Street and continue to Sumatera Street.

Meanwhile, from Veteran Street, the processions head south to Catur Muka, circle once, then are directed eastbound towards Patimura Street. Traffic from the south is also diverted to Surapati Street.

“After the ogoh-ogoh from Sumatera passes, traffic is diverted to Kartini Street heading north, so that ogoh-ogoh on Sumatera Street heading towards Gajah Mada does not get stuck,” he explained.

Regarding parking, the Traffic Department has prepared several parking zones to accommodate expected spectators.

“There is Kresna Street from the west. If it becomes crowded, motorcycles can park on Sulawesi Street,” said Sriawan.

For four-wheeled vehicles, parking is provided on Beliton Street through to the tourism office area on the eastern side.

The Traffic Department targets completion of the ogoh-ogoh procession by a maximum of 01:00 WITA in the early morning.

“Our hope is that by 01:00 it will be finished. Learning from last year’s experience for improvements, we have prepared to turn off street lights so the city’s Environmental and Sanitation Department can start cleaning quickly,” he added.

“Our hope is that the pengerupukan night will proceed safely and smoothly,” Sriawan concluded.
