Catholic Youth Group Supports Law Enforcement in BGN Corruption Case

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Central Board of Catholic Youth supports the law enforcement actions taken by the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) against the former leadership of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).

“We appreciate the concrete steps taken by the Attorney General’s Office, which moved swiftly to name the BGN leadership as suspects in this alleged corruption case. This occurred less than a day after the removal of the Head of BGN on Tuesday night,” said Stefanus Gusma, General Chairman of Catholic Youth, in a statement received in Jakarta on Thursday.

He noted that through these legal actions, the ‘cleansing’ process within the administration of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka is proving to be more than just a slogan. He added that many parties had recently been assessing the BGN’s performance as being indicative of corruption.

Gusma argued that this enforcement is a tangible manifestation of the Prabowo-Gibran government’s commitment to eradicating alleged corruption, evidenced by the detention of the former Head of BGN and two of his deputies. This is particularly significant as the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme, overseen by the BGN, is a priority programme for President Prabowo.

Furthermore, he suggested that this enforcement marks a new chapter in uncovering other alleged cases, such as the suspected trading of Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG). “This is actually uncovering new layers of other cases, such as the alleged sale of SPKG units, and so on. Therefore, we support this law enforcement until the very roots are reached,” he said.

He urged members of the public who are aware of the alleged trading of SPPG units not to fear reporting to law enforcement, including the Indonesian National Police (Polri) and the Attorney General’s Office, so that the truth may be revealed.

With the exposure of the BGN case, Gusma expressed hope that the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal programme will become more maximal, transparent, and reach the 3T regions (Frontier, Outermost, and Disadvantaged). “This case must not be repeated; there should be no ‘thorn in the flesh,’ as the saying goes. Everything must follow procedure,” Gusma stated.

Previously, the Attorney General’s Office officially named the former Head of BGN, Dadan Hindayana, as a suspect in a corruption case related to the alleged sale of SPPG points or MBG kitchens on Wednesday (3/6). In addition to Dadan, investigators have also detained the former Deputy Heads of BGN, Sony Sonjaya and Lodewyk Pusung.
