Catastrophe or curse?

From Koran Tempo

Terrorists attacks on the twin towers of the World Trade Center and the United States (U.S.) defense ministry building, the Pentagon, have really stunned the world. These might be the worst terrorist attacks that have ever been dealt the U.S.

The twin towers, billions of U.S. dollars in value, were reduced to rubble. The Pentagon, an icon of U.S. supremacy and might, also partially fell apart. A very simple question may be asked about how the U.S., which claims to be a superpower country and the world's "policeman", and boasts the best intelligence agents, could have been taken off-guard so completely that fateful Tuesday by these highly embarrassing attacks?

The U.S. weeps! The U.S.'s allies are outraged and condemn these attacks. The U.S.'s enemies, however, laughed, cheered and celebrated the tragedy.

These attacks have claimed thousands of lives, the lives of innocent workers who every day earned a living there. They were people who probably ignored the impact of U.S. foreign policies, which frequently support Zionist Israel in fighting innocent, heroic young Muslims armed only with stones.

Is the tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001 a disaster or a curse ? The U.S. was greatly startled! These attacks have deeply traumatized the U.S. people. Many countries have condemned these frenzied attacks, which may have claimed thousands of lives, but, unfortunately, only a handful of countries have condemned the massacres of heroic young Muslims in Palestine.

Our sympathy goes to thousands of innocent lives that have been lost as a sacrificial offering for the U.S. The consequence of war cannot be otherwise.
