Jakarta — Pet owners are boarding their cats at Rumah Pipo, a cat hotel located in Jatiasih, Bekasi, ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2026. According to the cat hotel’s owner, Nia, customers have been making reservations for their beloved cats since as early as January. “Some booked from late January onwards, and others in February as well. I think they’re worried about missing out on available slots because the cat hotel gets very busy during peak season,” Nia told Kompas.com on Tuesday (17 March 2026). The clientele extends beyond Bekasi residents, with many customers coming from Bogor, West Jakarta, and Tangerang. Due to limited capacity—approximately 35 to 40 cats—Nia has had to close bookings two weeks before Eid. “I’m fully booked and eventually had to cancel some reservations. I would like to accommodate more, but unfortunately the space is limited,” she said. The high demand, combined with increased workload, has prompted Nia to raise her service fees. Despite this, she continues to attract numerous clients each year during the Eid period. Nia emphasises that all boarded cats must be in perfect health. Cat owners are required to present vaccination records for their pets. Upon arrival at the hotel, staff conduct physical examinations of each cat. “I must ensure they’re healthy. During peak season there are many cats, so I’m concerned about disease transmission,” Nia explained. Nevertheless, she makes certain that each cat receives equal attention and care.
