Cat crosses road, marine killed

BANDA ACEH, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam: A marine was killed and three others injured when a truck carrying them overturned after it had swerved to avoid a cat.

Spokesman for the Aceh military operation Lt. Col. Asep Sapari said on Monday the truck was on its way early on Monday to Lhokseumawe from Krueng Geukeuh, both in North Aceh, when the accident took place in Panggoi subdistrict.

Sgt. Kosasih from Cilandak Marine Battalion, South Jakarta, died at the scene, while Corp. Joko Purnomo, Corp. Bambang R. and Pvt. Gunawan were rushed to the military hospital in Lhokseumawe.

"When avoiding the cat, the truck slipped and overturned. It was purely an accident," Asep said.

It is not known whether the cat survived. -- JP
