Cassa Aircraft That Skidded at Hasanuddin Airport Successfully Evacuated

A Cassa aircraft belonging to the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) that skidded on the runway of Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in Maros Regency, South Sulawesi, on Tuesday (25/8), has been evacuated to a safe location. “The Cassa aircraft did skid and is currently being handled, and at around 15.15 WITA it was successfully evacuated,” said Taufan Yudhistira, PGS Branch Communication and CSR Department Head of Sultan Hasanuddin Airport, in Maros on Tuesday (25/8). The evacuation of the Cassa aircraft was carried out after the incident. He explained the chronology of the aircraft skidding at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport, precisely on runway 03-21. Airport officers together with related parties then carried out handling procedures to evacuate the aircraft from the runway area. The evacuation process of the Cassa aircraft, he said, used a special aircraft tow truck. The evacuation of the Cassa aircraft was completed at around 15.15 WITA and it was moved to a safe location for further inspection. He confirmed that flight operations at Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport continued to run normally. Due to the Cassa aircraft skidding, civil flights were diverted to use the east-west runway. The incident of the Cassa aircraft skidding at Hasanuddin Airport occurred a day after a Sukhoi fighter jet belonging to the Indonesian Air Force experienced a similar incident at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport on Monday (24/8). The two incidents involved military aircraft and occurred on different runways at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport. The Cassa aircraft skidded on runway 03-21, while the Sukhoi fighter jet previously experienced an incident on the west side runway.
