Casio launches earU ER-100, a smart earphone and hearing aid
KOMPAS.com - The electronics company Casio has introduced a new wearable audio device named earU ER-100. The release marks the arrival of a new brand ‘earU’ under Casio.
In general, the earU ER-100 looks like wireless earbuds of the earclip type that are clipped to the outer ear, without covering the ear canal.
According to Casio, this approach is designed to reduce discomfort such as pressure, heat, and irritation that often arise with in-ear devices or traditional hearing aids.
Interestingly, the earU ER-100 is also designed to assist the user’s hearing like conventional hearing aids, by producing sound that sounds more natural.
The earbud is also designed to reduce sound leakage and suppress excessive resonance that can cause feedback noise.
Users can adjust sound profiles via a dedicated smartphone app that can automatically tailor audio levels after analysing the user’s hearing condition.
Additionally, the app provides several listening modes optimised for different situations such as offices, restaurants, outdoor areas, and meeting rooms.
Apart from its function as a hearing-support device, the earU ER-100 can also be used like a regular TWS for listening to music or making phone calls.
earU ER-100 supports Bluetooth 5.4 with SBC, AAC, and aptX codecs. Casio also equips the earbud with a 10 mm dynamic driver and IPX4 certification for water splash resistance.
Each earbud weighs around 8 grams without accessories, claimed to be comfortable for extended wear.
For battery life, the device’s battery is claimed to last more than 9.5 hours in listening-assistance mode and more than 14 hours when used for standard audio streaming.
Casio also includes fast charging, where a 10-minute charge is claimed to support about 90 minutes of usage.
The device comes in two colour options, Navy Black and Ivory White, with different accessories for each variant.
At present, earU ER-100 is still limited to Casio’s home country, Japan. It is not yet known whether the device will be marketed globally or not, according to KompasTekno, citing Gizmo China.
